Harry Gluckman

Country of origin: Germany

The Gluckman family was one of hundreds of Jews who escaped Germany and occupied Europe in 1939-40 by traveling eastward. Many landed in San Francisco and were processed at Angel Island. Some of their stories are only now coming to light.

  1. People's stories from WWII and what families endured always make me cry. It is so sad that even though they were uprooted and lived here in reduced circumstances they were fairly lucky compared to so many.
